In the pharmaceutical but especially in the cosmetic industry is a high demand for new substances or substance combinations originating from natural resources. Rheum sp. (rhubarb) contain a broad variety of interesting ingredients. Substance fractions - isolated from roots with a specially developed extraction and isolation procedure - showed a significant reduction of proliferation and are therefore potential substances for application in therapy and prevention of dermatologic disorders.
